Nia: Purpose
I am building community with other bipoc artists to uplift eachother.
I am expressing my creativity.
I have always wanted to design and make my own clothes. Now I’m doing it.
Wearing natural fibers is what’s best for all living creatures

I’ve been thrifting and wearing home-made clothing ever since I can remember, so, I never thought about it much. And, as “slow fashion” is becoming a trend it’s made me reflect.
fast fashion has never been for me, I look back on pictures of myself from over a decade ago and I’m wearing vintage, mended or handmade one of a kind garments, maybe I wanted to stand out.
More possible is that traditional skills, making things by hand, and being connected to the past has always been present. From my ancestors that I know who engaged in this work, to my living relatives who led by example. It’s always been a part of me and will always be my purpose to follow the guidance of those who came before while propelling my craft and innovating into the future.
so here’s to being more authentic, and sharing with y’all why I’m doing this.
