I am using Wool of the Andes 100% Peruvian Highland wool from KnitPicks to make these beautiful blended colors!

Chose your colors!
I usually go by sight, but if you want to get technical about it, you can use a color wheel to decide what colors you want to mix together.
I weighed them out to .5 oz, I don’t like my rolags to get too chunky.
When I’m spinning my Rolags, I like to know exactly how much fiber I am putting on my bobbin so I can have an equal amount for my next bobbin to ply.
Next: Lightly apply the fiber to the blending board by holding gently at the top and dragging the fiber down the board and letting the fiber catch on the tines.
Don’t put too much on! You could end up with big chunks that are hard to roll off.
I like to separate my roving into strips that are the same length as the staple, and split those in half down the center to avoid putting too much fiber on the board.
Start painting with your fiber, add in stripes, get creative!
When your board is full and no longer grabbing the roving, you use the mini carder to brush your fiber down into the board.
Starting from the top of the board brush towards you.
Repeat the process, fill your board up again until you have placed the amount of fiber on the board that you want your finished roll to be (.5 oz for me)
And don’t forget to push your fiber down!
Tuck the ends of your fiber between your two wooden dowels and begin to roll, starting at the bottom of the board and moving away from you.
Apply upward pressure, pulling upward before each roll. This helps to keep the roll tight and the fiber to come off the board in an even manner.
When you have your fiber off of the board, you can twist the unruly fiber onto the roll to tighten.
Remove one stick at a time!
Coil your rolag! Admire! Repeat!
happy spinning!
