Mother of Purl x Manos Del Uraguay Spring 2024 Collection
The story of a Knitwear Collection.
3 Knitting Patterns Designed by Lauren McElroy | Mother of Purl for Spring 2024 in Feliz Yarn by Manos Del Uruguay.
Back in 2022, 2 years ago at the time of writing this.
I traveled to my first ever trade show. H+H Americas, Where I made a lot of connections, (and took a total of 3 photos) one of those connections was with Manos Del Uruguay. I was attracted to their earthy colors and their ethos as a yarn company.
We went back and forth from June to November about a capsule collection, I swatched in a number of their yarns, and drew up some sketches, and collectively we landed on Feliz being the right yarn for these garments. A merino Modal Blend for a Spring 2024 Release.
The perfect yarn for a collection based around the idea of positive ease, loose flowing, breezy summer garments inspired by summer on the shores of lake superior.
It wasn’t until June of 2023 that I cast on for this collection. Working through the first design, the pebble tee at H+H americas, on the train there, a little in the hotel room, and on the train ride home.
If you’ve seen the finished collection (if you haven’t you will by the end of this post). you may notice that I made some changes in the process. Namely, The Pebble tee being knit in the round, and the agate tank only having one side panel instead of an asymmetrical one on one side and two on the other.
I worked through June, July and August on the knitting of my samples, and a little into September for tweaks and pattern writing.
The photography and tech editing of the Collection was done by Manos Del Uruguay and released in March of 2024.
I love the soft yarn and colors of this collection, I love how the pebble tee drapes. and I love the cut out sides of the agate tank.
The Jasper Scarflette Was originally named tides, because Lake superior is big enough to have its own waves, the alternating of the main stitch patterns for the two larger garments creates this fun in and out and meditative knitting. We switched the name to Jasper Tides was already a popular name on ravelry and the colors and geological reference fit.
Right now, the best way to get these patterns is through Ravelry .
Like and add your favorite (or all of them) to your queue!
